I just came back from watching Sivaji...and felt like writing down my views on the movie...its not easy to write about a superstar movie...but I have tried my best...a movie for which I have been waiting for quite long...was it worth the wait...??? its difficult to answer...may be you'll be able to tell after reading through...Being a combination of Super Star, Shankar and a few other big names in the tamil film industry...there is lot to expect...STYLE...Rich and ammmazing songs...enlivening background music...Majestic and aesthetic sets...Computer Graphics...a gripping story????????...a message?????????...comedy???????

For those who are not interested in reading through this fully, I would like to describe my view in just a couple of sentences before going any further...

About Super star in this movie I would say "Pera kaetalae chumma adhirudhulla!!!!"...SUPER style!!!
About the movie negating the super star influence and the songs...I would say..."Enna koduma Saravanan idhu!!!"...

There is the superstar influence to this Shankar movie...Shankar has let down the story concentrating more on capturing the Rajini style...Agreed that when it comes to a super star film...thalaivar gets all the attention and being a fan of Rajini, I like it that way too but I feel the story and the message in this movie unlike any Shankar movie is highly watered down due to this...I'm a Rajini fan but still I would have been more happy if the story was a little more gripping and logical...I'm disappointed with the story...Now wait...Super star's last flick Chandramukhi though was a super hit was not a true Rajini movie...but this comes pretty close after Padayappa...if not for the unbelievably stewpid story line...this would have definitely surpassed Padayappa...so I still like Padayappa..Thalaivar had a more majestic role to play in that...Baasha/Thalapthi still remains as my fav Rajini movies...I was seriously hoping that it would change after this movie but sadly it remains...

Not the greatest of Rajini intros...would not even come close...

I was impressed by the background music...In "Vada vada vangikada..."...the lyrics was really funny when the songs were out...but Shankar has used it brilliantly in the movie...After seeing the movie, now am hearing it again and again...it is so gripping...

Songs have always been Shankar's forte...its the same with this Shankar movie also...AMAZING SONGS...If you are a Rajini fan, you will be delighted to watch "Adhiradee..." song...its electrifying...I BET you can't avoid atleast tapping you feet, if not dancing when this song is playing...I wished they played this song the second time...Rajini looks so damn coool and stylish in this song... YOU CAN WATCH THE MOVIE JUST FOR THIS SONG IF YOU ARE RAJINI FAN...Rahman has shown his class...A small titbit to add...This is a "First Night" song sequence...if you are surprised, then go watch it...Shankar has used this song brilliantly...the whole first night sequence which ends with this song is cool...and different...

Hats off to Rahman for "Vaada vaada..." and "Adhiradee..." songs...Adhiradee song is also used as a BGM...its toooooo good...

Ballelaka song looks really colorful...literally...(Comparable to Andan Kaaka song in Anniyan)I wasn't able to believe if it was Nayantara who danced for the song...she has become sooooooooo slim...I feel having that extra bit of flesh suited her better...

Shreya fits the bill perfectly as a glam doll...she looks super hottttt in Vaaji vaaji song...There was a part in the song where she would swim...it was so elegant and sexy.

There are no words to describe the Set used in "Vaaji..." and "Sahara..." songs...it is just out of the world...to say the least...Everything....EVERYTHING is just perfect with the song...The set is so damn attractive that it steals most of your attention...to be frank, I failed to notice Rajini during this song...all my attention was on Shreya ;-) and the set...Thota Tharani has done a great job with the sets...

Suman has done a good job as a villian...I liked it...he has played a pretty calm but menacing role...he has a "Sotha pallu" and the way he grins to show it...a perfect villian...

The first half of the movie is mostly "Mokkai"...a few song sequences...Shreya...some enjoyble and mostly boring comedy...The second half (Except for the last few mins) seems good ONLY because of Rajini...his presence is just electrifying...Only 40-50% of the movie was really enjoyable...rest was just OK stuff...The 40-50% mostly includes scenes with the typical Rajini style and the songs...Rajini is absolutely majestic and charismatic in some scenes...were I was able to see the True thalaivar...the one whom I had loved to watch...he has an amazing screen presence..look out for the last scene before interval where Rajini tosses a coin in the air and says "Ini Singa paadhai..." it was amazing...

There is a train scene in the movie...which is implausibly stewpid thinking...this is one of the many stewpid things in this movie which I never expect to see in a Shankar movie...I would like to mention a couple more things about the train scene but it would be a spoiler if I mention anything more than this...so I'll stop here...

It is vivek who speaks all the punch dialogues in the movie...not Rajini...instead Rajini does some real cool action with a coin...too damn stylish...

Rajini calling Vivek as..."Dei maama..." through out the movie is really funny...

For all the Ajith fans reading this...Thalaivar has danced to Vijay's "Deepavali...deepavali.." song from Sivakasi...

Thalaivar has made a couple of references to Kamalhaasan in this movie...

There is a lot more I'd like to mention about the movie but since its getting really lengthy I'll stop here...

To sum it up...Rajini is Ravishing...Songs and BGM are too damn good...Comedy and Fights are OK...Story is bad...It is a good movie for Rajini fans...but overall not a complete movie...

Again...

About Super star in this movie I would say "Pera kaetalae chumma adhirudhulla!!!!"...super style!!!
About the movie negating the super star influence and the songs...I would say..."Enna koduma Saravanan idhu!!!"...
