Pleasures of traveling in a MTC bus

For those poor rich souls who never had an opportunity to travel in MTC buses. -

Something interesting happened this morning. The MTC bus I was traveling in was stopped by a group in the middle of the road. Even before people could understand what was happening around ten people looking like gundas dressed in white and white got into the bus leisurely. Gundas + white and white is a neat giveaway on who they were but as if this was not enough to identify themselves they had the badge of a big political party pinned to their shirts. They announced loudly that they were there to distribute cakes to celebrate the birthday of their party leader. (I don't want to take names and get into trouble. You can just stare out of your vehicle window when you are going home this evening to find out. I am sure there will be a lot of posters.) A guy almost three times my size handed me a piece of cake which looked huge even in his hands. I wasn't too keen about taking it. The reasons were plenty. The cake really didn't look too inviting. The guy who was handing the cake was holding it so tightly that his hands had eaten through the cream. The biggest reason was the photographer who was waiting for my hands to touch the cake to click a picture! All these were not strong enough reasons for me to say no to the cake. The guy who was handing over the cakes had this terrifying look on his face which gave me a feeling that I might not get to eat cakes ever again if I said no to him. Luckily for me the guy next to me stretched his hand forward eager to get his share. He looked like he could have eaten the whole box. I didn't really care because I escaped. After about 15 minutes of cake distribution and a lot of honking from angry drivers behind, they let the bus move. I was able to hear one of them shouting, "Pinaadi vara 25G ya neruthuppa". I was 10 minutes late for my meeting. Luckily the host of the meeting didn't show up. May be he was in the 25G. :D
